The new album from Rizwan-Muazam Qawwali Group - the youngest and most exciting group of Qawwali singers to emerge from Pakistan over the last decade. The group are torch bearers in the long line of tradition in Qawwali vocal music - devotional praise and love songs based upon classical Islamic and Sufi texts.
A straight Qawwali performance to complement last month's "Peoples Colony No.1". Led by Rizwan and Muazzam Mujahid Ali Khan (nephews of the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan) they prove with the urgency and ecstatic vibarancy of their performamce that Qawwali is moving forward into a new era of expression and devotion. Another stunning Real World recording.
'If the glut of posthumous Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan releases has worn out even the most devoted qawwali fan, here's a little faith restoration. Now that he's gone, these young men may prove to be the torchbearers.'

'Even by qawwali standards Rizwan and Muazzam have big voices... They're at once more forceful and eccentric... and they're also lively, leaping higher and crazier...'
Press review from: Village Voice (USA)
'Muazzam's voice has the tenor quality and control of his uncle's [Nusrat's], while Rizwan has a more guttural tone and a fierce attack, particularly when he rips into a rapid-fire improvisation full of wild vocals.'
Press review from: Pulse! (USA)
'...an album that is thouroughly melodic, rhythmic and enlightening...'

'At the top of the list for 2002 is 'A Better Destiny', a brilliant collection of Sufi Islamic music from the young ensemble, Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali.'
Press review from: Lip Magazine (US)
'With this CD, Sufi devotional music and the spirit of what Nusrat gave to the global community are both furthered-through the living heritage of ancient tradition.'

'The beat goes on: Nusrat's nephew strike gold...the hottest sufis in showbiz are back with more intense tributes to Mohammed and the saints...'

'...this style of music has become an integral part of Bollywood film scores, and even creeps into the occasional soundtrack in the West. If you fancy a taste of what all the fuss is about, this group is one of the very best.'
Press review from: Wanderlust (Uk)
'This may be Sufi devotional music, but it is also one of the most exhilarating improvised vocal styles on the planet.'
Press review from: The Guardian (UK)
'The spiritually charged love songs they perform with such intensity devive from texts of Sufi origin and from broader Islamic works, with poetry, imagery and religious devotion central to all. The six numbers here follow the time-honoured traditions of call-and-response patterns and a relentless, invigorating cranking up of volume and pace alike. No wonder they were such a hit at Womad in 98, their very first UK appearance...As for the heirs to the great Nusrat, his heritage is clearly in excellent hands and great voice!'
