Yungchen Lhamo At Silk Roads Gallery

Real World recording artist Yungchen Lhamo recently performed at two high-profile events in Los Angeles -- first as the opening event of National Geographic's All Roads Film Festival at Hollywood's grand Egyptian Theatre on September 28th, and at a fundraiser for her charitable foundation at Silk Roads Gallery on September 30th.

Silk Roads houses an exquisite array of rare and ancient Buddhist art that is no longer obtainable from China, which provided a serene and perfect setting for Yungchen Lhamo to sing Tibetan songs from her new album Ama -- amidst life-size carved Buddhas, Quan Yins, and bodhisattvas dating back several centuries. Several thousand dollars were raised for her charity, which provides aid to Tibetans in need both in Dharmsala and elsewhere.

Adrian Sherwood....Has Become a Cliché?!

Coming soon on Real World Records - more from the wild dub imagination of the legendary Adrian Sherwood. In the follow up to Never Trust A Hippy comes Becoming A Cliché. This will come out as a limited edition double album with Dub Cliché - a bunch of dub remixes and extraordinarly new tracks.

The special edition is released in Japan on October 18 through Beatink Records and arrives in Europe on November 13. This double release will only be available for a short time.

Where the first ‘solo’ album Never Trust A Hippy, was mainly instrumental, Becoming A Cliché features an ever impressive range of vocal guests: the late, great Bim Sherman, reggae multi instrumentalist Dennis Bovell, Little Roy, Lee ‘LSK’ Kenny, Tunisian-French singer Samia Farah, Italian rapper Raiz and Mark Stewart. Keeping it in the family, Adrian’s two daughters Denise and Emily sing on the opening track, ‘Animal Magic’, with the legendary Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry.

Lee ‘LSK’ Kenny features on two tracks, ‘You Wonder Why’ and ’St Peter’s Gate’ – the latter in a ‘sing-jay’ style (a combination of singing and dee jaying, known in Jamaica as 'toasting'). “I first worked with Lee when he was called Bedlam a go go,” Sherwood explains. “He has the ability to write thought-provoking lyrics in no time at all."

Sherwood and Lee Scratch Perry will be on tour together in Japan to celebrate the album launch. Check out the Tours section for details of dates.

We will have a (very) limited number of the Japanese edition to sell via our online shop prior to the European release - what this space!
