It features all the need to know information about the latest band to be signed to Real World Records, whose debut album Carry Your Kin is due for release on 8 July.
The new album from Joseph Arthur is available from today on CD and download. The Family will also be available on LP from 17 June.
The whole album was written at a piano, a Steinway Vertegrande from 1912, that Joseph had recently acquired. The instrument was so full of character and history, and owned by just one family until it ended up in his industrial studio space in Red Hook, Brooklyn, it became a potent source of inspiration.
The album was mixed by Tchad Blake, whose previous collaborations with Joseph include the well-loved songs Honey and the Moon and In the Sun, the latter which has been covered by Michael Stipe and Peter Gabriel.
The debut album from The Breath entitled Carry Your Kin will be released on Real World Records on 8 July 2016 and is now available to pre-order.
As an early preview the album is also available now as the Bowers & Wilkins Society of Sound release for May.
The album was recorded at Real World Studios, as well as Rosehill Studios in Manchester and guitarist Stuart McCallum's home studio.
In a blog post for Society of Sound McCallum gives some insight into the making of the album and the production techniques used during the recording.
"The album is essentially an acoustic recording," says McCallum, "some of the acoustic instruments were modulated through electronic processors to closely integrate the electronic and acoustic sounds."
Carry Your Kin will have a full commercial release on Real World Records on 8 July 2016.
The EP features four tracks, including the soulful voice of Rosie Doonan (Birdy, Peter Gabriel) on the title track:
Wrapped (feat. Rosie Doonan) Radio Edit
Wrapped (feat. Rosie Doonan) Full Length
John Metcalfe's UK tour begins this Sunday 8 May in Bristol, where tracks from the latest album, The Appearance of Colour, as well as Wrapped, will be performed.

This soulful, brooding record consists of songs that take a critical look at the world we live in. Find out more about the meaning of Anian and the story behind each track here.
The double CD package contains a companion disc titled Yn dy lais / In Your Voice. The piece features writers, actors, poets and musicians (including Peter Gabriel, Maxine Peake and Rhys Ifans) offering their own interpretations of the tracks, as a way of conveying the meaning to a non-Welsh speaking audience.
