Film & TV 1
Various Artists, 2013
The second release in our new series of digital compilations is Film & TV 1.
Real World music has featured in many major movies and television programs - these are some of the highlights.
We've opened Series 1 of The Wire with The Blind Boys of Alabama's version of 'Way Down In The Hole'. We've played out over a mid-season finale of Grey's Anatomy with Charlie Winston's poignant 'She Went Quietly'. Joi's 'Fingers' was chosen to capture the cosmopolitan vibe of New York in Sex And The City. Very recently, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Michael Brook's 'Night Song' featured in Kathryn Bigelow's film Zero Dark Thirty. Ayub Ogada's heart-breakingly lovely 'Kothbiro' played over the closing credits of 2005's The Constant Gardener, while Jocelyn Pook's 'Dionysus' had a powerful presence in Gangs of New York.
'Real World: Film & TV 1' offers a selection of our music used in films and TV programmes, made and shown all over the world - some familiar, some less so, but all giving a flavour of the unerring diversity of the Real World catalogue.
