7 RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Award nominations for Real World artists

The shortlist for this year's RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards has just been announced, and it includes 7 nominations for Real World artists.

The Gloaming have received 3 nominations, following the release of their third album in March and a tour of Europe and the United States. They are nominated in the Best Folk Group and Best Folk Album categories, and the song ‘Áthas’ received a nomination for Best Original Folk Track.

In addition, Martin Hayes and Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh from the band are nominated in the Best Folk Instrumentalist category, whilst Iarla Ó Lionáird is nominated in the Best Folk Singer category alongside Ríoghnach Connolly from The Breath (who is also nominated for, and will perform at, the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in Manchester next month).

Congratulations to all of the nominees, and we wish them luck at the ceremony, which will take place at Vicar St. in Dublin on 24 October 2019.
