Dennis Cahill (1954 – 2022)

It is with great sadness we have learned of the death of Dennis Cahill on June 20, 2022. We really got to know Dennis well as part of The Gloaming and loved his beautiful playing which was a fundamental element of this Irish/American collective.

Dennis and the rest of the members of The Gloaming recorded at Real World Studios in December 2015. In this video from our archives, Dennis talks about the role of the guitar and its interplay with the piano:

    The Gloaming

    Released 17 January 2014

The Gloaming carves new paths connecting the rich Irish folk tradition and the New York contemporary music scene. From haunting sean-nós songs to raucous folk explosions, they make music that is both ancient and utterly new: respecting traditions whilst bringing an unconventional energy into the mix.
