Montparnasse Musique launch immersive exhibition and sonic journey, Kinjotour

Real World Records is proud to announce the opening of Kinjotour, a major new exhibition at Espace Le Carré in Lille, presented as part of the lille3000 “Fiesta” programme. Conceived and curated by Nadjib Ben Bella — producer, DJ, and one half of the Franco–South African duo Montparnasse Musique — Kinjotour runs from 10 October to 7 December 2025.

Between urban fracas and futuristic pulse, Kinjotour unfolds as a multi-sensory odyssey where the boundaries between music, visual art and collective memory dissolve. The exhibition features works by Fulu Miziki, Kasai Allstars, Konono Nº1, Renaud Barret, Mahjoub Ben Bella, Félix Godefroy, Moke Fils and Precy Numbi, each contributing a distinct vision of Africa’s creative present and imagined futures.

Across painting, photography, sculpture, sound and film, the exhibition draws on themes of reclamation, resilience and metamorphosis. Visitors will encounter Mahjoub Ben Bella’s lyrical abstractions, Moke Fils’s vivid depictions of Kinshasa street life, Renaud Barret’s raw urban photography, and Precy Numbi’s cybernetic sculptures built from recycled materials. The eco-futurist collective Fulu Miziki transform waste into instruments and performance art, while Félix Godefroy’s scenography and visual remixing weave these elements into a unified, immersive landscape— a celebration of creativity born from chaos.

To coincide with the exhibition launch, Montparnasse Musique today release a new extended play recording, Kinjotour, available now on all digital platforms. This sonic companion continues their distinctive blend of pan-African influences, Congotronics-inspired grooves and sharp electronic textures, expanding the exhibition’s themes into a powerful sound world that bridges continents and generations.

    Montparnasse Musique

    Released 21 October 2022

Underground to overground. Forest to metropolis. North Africa and South Africa, meeting up, digging down, finding gold in the seams. Here, at the intersection of club floor and ritual, of electronics and ceremony, are worlds both ancient and modern. Otherworlds, where inhibitions fall away, dancers shakedown and trance takes you out there, and far away. This is Archeology – the astounding debut album from Montparnasse Musique.
