Spiro announce their first American tour

Real World Records is delighted to introduce Spiro to American audiences this fall when the highly original acoustic quartet tour in the United States for the first time ever.

Acclaimed by critics as ‘dazzling,’ ‘magnificent,’ and ‘breathtakingly moving,’ the unique, Bristol UK-based Spiro are celebrated for the beauty of their interlocking, intricate musical patterns.

Testifying to the brilliance of each musician, this music of many-layered depth is produced with just four acoustic instruments in play at any given moment, taking on songs from the 17th and 18th centuries with imaginative and contemporary interpretations.

A centerpiece of the U.S. tour will be The Copper Suite, written for the centenary celebration of the life and work of English folk legend Bob Copper, which took place at Cecil Sharp House in London on 24th January 2015. As the only instrumental group invited to take part in the event, Spiro were honored to join a fabulous array of performers from the world of English folk music, and to perform this specially composed suite based on tunes from the Copper family repertoire. The piece was subsequently recorded and mixed in The Big Room at Real World Studios and was released as a digital single in February of this year.
