WOMAD’s UK home is in Charlton Park, Wiltshire, where every year, during the last weekend of July, you’ll discover a world without borders, a global fiesta of music, food, dance & art, and a place where everyone is welcome.
Now in its thirty-sixth year, WOMAD features a colourful medley of music, dance, food, art, spoken-word, poetry, science and other family fun, bringing together artists and fans from all over the world. After a record-breaking 2017, this year’s festival weekend is set to be one of the most spectacular to date, with an incredible and diverse line-up from around the globe.
You can read a lot more about how and why Peter Gabriel set up the WOMAD Festival in his speech for the 2015 Festival Awards, where WOMAD won the Outstanding Contribution to Festivals.
"It was a simple idea, to create a festival out of all the brilliant music and art made all over the world, stuff made outside of the mainstream – music that wasn’t getting on the radio and was even harder to find in record stores." Peter Gabriel
