9Bach live album ‘Ar y 9’ out now

9Bach's first live album, Ar y 9, is available now digitally. It's an 8-track collection of songs recorded during the band’s celebratory UK tour of 2019, in support of the 10th anniversary re-release of their debut album.

The recording features songs from each of their studio albums, 2009’s 9Bach, 2014’s Tincian and 2016’s Anian, all available on Real World Records.

Playing live has always been such an important part of being in 9Bach and, well, our being full stop… so we’re excited to be releasing Ar y 9 finally. The tour these recordings are taken from was really special because we got to play a lot of songs from our first record that we’d never played live much (or at all) before. It was also our first tour with Andy on drums, who’s been a joy to play with. It captures an important moment for us as a band, so we hope you enjoy it.

“Of course, playing live again —at least in the same room as an audience — seems such a distant prospect right now and releasing a live album in these times it hits home even harder how much playing live means to us and how we miss it, how we miss being together as a band and seeing all your lovely faces in the audience. So, let’s collectively channel our favourite gig memories, grab the tipple of your choice, turn the lights down and the volume up and press play.”

Along with the album release, 9Bach have shared a video for the track ‘Anian’, featuring footage captured behind the scenes of their final show at Drygate in Glasgow for Celtic Connections in January. It was the last time the band were all together before the COVID19 lockdown.
